From Steps to Smiles: How Virtual Coworker is Giving Back

At Virtual Coworker, we believe in the power of community and compassion. Our commitment to meaningful causes is not just part of our corporate values—it’s a way of life for our team. This year, through the Step-tember Challenge and holiday giving initiatives, our employees went above and beyond to support local charities in the Philippines. Here’s a glimpse into their inspiring journeys.

Lala’s Haven: Creating Second Chances for Stray Animals

For Mereden Gamosa, the Step-tember Challenge wasn’t just about steps; it was about saving lives. Her team chose Lala’s Haven, a shelter dedicated to rescuing stray cats and dogs. This cause was personal for Mereden, as she had adopted Pluto, a rescue from Lala’s Haven.

On November 14, Mereden visited the shelter and was profoundly moved by the dedication of Katherine, its founder. What began in 2018 as a mission to save one stray cat has blossomed into a sanctuary for over 100 animals. Katherine’s unwavering commitment has led to over 80 successful adoptions.

“Seeing the love and care these animals receive was heartwarming,” Mereden shared. “It’s a reminder that collective efforts can make a tangible difference in lives—whether they walk on two legs or four.”

Straylove PH: A Mission of Compassion

For Romina Morallos, the journey to Straylove PH in Tanay Rizal was a deeply personal experience. Guided by her love for her late dog, Candy, Romina and her team chose to support this shelter that rescues abandoned and abused dogs.

On November 28, the team was greeted by wagging tails and joyful barks. The shelter’s founder, Ms. GT Lim, shared her passion for giving second chances to dogs in need. “Each dog has a story of resilience,” Romina recalled.

Reflecting on the visit, she said, “It’s not just about donations. It’s about connection and spreading love to those who can’t speak for themselves.”

Tahanang Pinagpala: Every Step Counts

For Raffie Ramos and his team, the Step-tember Challenge was a chance to improve their health while giving back to Tahanang Pinagpala, a home for the elderly. Over the course of the challenge, the team motivated each other to reach their daily step goals, knowing every step brought them closer to making a difference.

“Our collective effort turned into improved care and more smiles for the residents,” Raffie shared. “It was humbling to see how small actions can create a big impact.”

The Children of Cebu Foundation: Spreading Christmas Joy

As the holiday season approached, Fritz Richter Repompo and his team focused their efforts on The Children of Cebu Foundation, a haven for children who’ve faced hardship.

On November 22, the team visited the foundation and spent the day playing games and sharing simple gifts with 18 bright-eyed children. “Seeing their joy reminded me of life’s beauty and the true spirit of Christmas—giving and love,” Fritz said.

A Collective Impact

These stories are a testament to the heart and dedication of the Virtual Coworker team. Together, they raised funds, donated resources, and brought joy to animals, the elderly, and children in need. Their efforts reflect the true power of teamwork and compassion.

At Virtual Coworker, we’re proud to support our employees in their journey to make a difference. These experiences remind us all that through small acts of kindness, we can create ripples of hope and love in our communities.

Even small actions, when done together, can create lasting change.
